Today: From our travel postcards

Dervish dance (also known as sufi whirling) is a form
of meditation which actively involves the whole body.

The aim is to be in unison with the universe by
rotating ones body from right to left repetitively,
echoing the effect of rotation and revolution in the cosmos,
and thus tuning our souls to the supreme conciousness.

The Secret Turning
A secret turning in us
makes the universe turn.
Head unaware of feet,
and feet head. Neither cares.
They keep turning.

The Essential Rumi.

Ears enjoy the music, mind focuses on God,
body imitates the universe and the whole effect
elevates you to a level which is above all
human sufferings, egos and desires of the world.
Being in this state of trance one reaches the
ultimate spiritual ecstasy.
This dance is a tourist attraction in Turkey,
although people are not supposed to clap
for the performer until he has left the
stage because of its religious significance.

This We Have Now
This we have now
is not imagination.
This is not
grief or joy.
Not a judging state,
or an elation,
or sadness.
Those come and go.
This is the presence
that doesn't.
