New Zealand hosts about 15,371 more Alpacas who we hope flash cleaner smiles. Oral hygiene does seem to be a concern for the specie, as some are prone to spitting owing to an acidic stomach from binging on fresh grass. However, they do make up with excellent toilet habits - using a communal dung pile where they do not graze, so they can even be potty- trained and reared as pets. Domesticated for thousands of years in South America, the Alpaca is now farmed in many countries around the world for its fleece unlike its much larger cousin, the Llama that is bred to be a beast of burden.
