The story of Climate Change # 2
For years, the US used to be Khalnayak No. 1. But China has
leapfrogged over the US in its annual carbon dioxide emissions. In
2007, the two were pretty equal, at about 6 billion tonnes each. Two
years later, US has fallen to 5.4 billion tonnes (Gt) – partly due to
the ongoing economic crisis - while China leaped to 7.7 Gt. The US is way ahead in both per capita and historical emissions though.
